I love this video for two reasons.
First, the day I recorded it was one of the highlights of my career. I absolutely love music and I love creating things, but I don’t play any instruments, so I never dreamed I would be able to take part in the creation of music. While I didn’t contribute musically, it was still amazing to be so close to that experience and be there to document it.
Second, it was an unexpected surprise. We had a tight budget, so we weren’t originally planning to do a full video for this song, I was just grabbing some clips for the documentary. But since this song ended up having seven tracking takes, I realized I might have enough usable content to cut together a full video. I started to play around with it to see what I could do and was really happy with the result.
This video was all shot by myself using one Canon T2i DSLR with a 50mm f/1.4 lens, handheld and using manual focus. No stabilizing gear or focus pulling equipment, just the bare camera and lens on a monopod.
