Well, today is the first weekday since the time change that I’ve actually been able to witness the sunset. Been working those late nights and decided to head home a bit early tonight. Jenn was driving, so I was able to snap a few shots of the beautiful sunset with my iPhone. Used the ol’ Hipstamatic app again, and I grabbed this shot with the Kaimal Mark II lens, and a special filter called “the dirt on my car window” to give the sun that extra large speckled flare!

Another day working late at the office. That’s what tends to happen on Auction week at Hungry For Life. I’m working on a video that requires a lot of render time in-between edits, so I thought I’d set up a really cool self-portrait for tonight with my ample wait time. I set up the Canon T2i here at work on a tripod and put it on manual mode. I wanted to try and get an image that looks double-exposure-esque, but done with one long exposure, so it would look like I was working on two computers at the same time. To get a long enough exposure for it to look good, I turned out all of the lights so that the only light in the room was coming from the two computer screens, then I stopped the aperture down to f/11 and set the shutter speed to ten seconds. I then looked at each monitor for five seconds during the ten second exposure, and this is the end result:
Today was another day spent late at the office, working on video, and waiting for it to render. So I thought I’d take another macro shot with my Pentax Optio W30. This really shows off the macro capabilities of the W30, as you can see not only the individual pixels on the iMac’s screen, but right down to the individual red, green and blue lights. Pretty cool if you ask me. This is straight out of the camera, with no adjustments save for a simple crop:
Today was kinda misty and dreary, which would normally be bad for photos, but there’s this tree outside the front picture window of my friend’s place that collects really cool droplets on the branches when it’s misty out. So it became my photo challenge subject for today:
Yikes, almost forgot about today! So quick post before I head to bed. Today was tree decorating day! (I know, early right?) As is the new tradition, I set up a camera to capture a timelapse video of us assembling and decorating the tree, and so I thought I’d use one of the still frames as my photo for the day:
Well, today I felt like serving up a macro shot, so I busted out my old Pentax Optio W30. Not only is it waterproof, but it turns out it takes incredible macro shots as well, and it doesn’t even need to be in macro mode. You just set the camera one or two centimetres away from an object, push the shutter button half-way down to focus, and after a few seconds of effort, the camera locks on.
So for a subject, I thought I’d use my new glasses again, since they have kind of a cool Levi’s logo on the side that you couldn’t see in my self-portrait on Day One. I started by taking a few shots with my glasses sitting on a table, but then quickly realized that the scale is portrayed a lot better if I’m wearing them. So after multiple attempts, I finally got a shot that I felt was sharp enough and framed decent enough to work:
Well, even though today was a holiday, I was scheduled to work, as I swapped to have Monday off. I slept in, however; which meant that I worked a little later, so I decided to take a pic while waiting for footage to render. It was rainy out, and I love the way that raindrops look on windows, so I snapped this interesting reflection:
Well, tonight was a zone-out, do-nothing night. Just needed a night to vegetate in front of the TV watching The Big Bang Theory while eating pizza and drinking root beer. So tonight’s photo is nothing special, but I still made sure to post something.
Down to the wire. For the record, Tuesdays are not going to be good days as that’s our bible study night, and we typically leave right after work and don’t get home until late. Tonight’s even later than usual. So I don’t have much for today, but I do have a quick photo I shot with my iPhone earlier today at work as I was getting ready to leave, so that just in case this happened, I’d have something to fall back on. I’m sorry for this, I didn’t expect it to turn out this way, but it did, and I found it so funny I thought I’d pick this one to upload:
So I mentioned yesterday that I travelled to Seattle for a concert. Well, one of the souvenirs I picked up at the show was a copy of one of my favourite albums on vinyl! It’s House of Heroes’ newest album “Suburba,” and boy were those guys good in concert. Definitely go to one of their shows if you ever get the chance.
Anyways, after getting home (or almost home, I’m actually hanging out at a friend’s place for a few hours before we head home), I thought for today’s photo challenge I’d try my hand at some product photography:
